The Big Time Out 2010 Rocked!

Well The Big Time Out 2010 has come and gone and it has left a definite mark on our community. The people, the setting, the performers.

We are lucky enough to contribute a little to this amazing event by supplying coffee for the backstage area and volunteers. In return we get to feel like rockstars and enjoy the backstage life. Comfy couches with great views of the performers, shade (trust me that is a big thing), water, massages and ice cold beer.

The Big Time Out 2010

Oh Yeah! It’s that time of year again. This is one of the most anticipated events of the Comox Valley. Great town, great performers and great people make for a spectacular event. The Big Time Out is hosted by the amazing Vig of Cumberland Village Works who has become a year-round host of some of the worlds best performers.

Led by the driving beats and powerful messages of hip hop sensation K’naan, the festival will be weaving its intricate mix of music, magic and sunshine in the Cumberland downtown Village Park on August 14th and 15th 2010.

The Big Day Up with The Cat Empire

Wow! What an amazing event that Cumberland Village Works put on at Mount Washington Resort. The venue was spectacular. The people were energized by the amazing performers and stunned by the back drop of the big beautiful blue skies and mountains on the horizon. We were lucky enough to score some VIP back stage passes for supplying coffee and what an experience. Great view, chill atmosphere, and free beer from Phillips Brewing Company. Needless to say we had a great time and are now gearing up for The Big Time Out

Freak Show-Open Mic Night

Hola! We are hosting The Freak Show – Open Mic night on the second Thursday of the month. First official one is on Thursday July 8th from 7-9pm. The doors will open at 6:30pm with our usual coffee and food menu available. This is an all ages, all level evening. We will have a sign up sheet and you get up to 10 mins including set-up time. Its ok if you only have 2 mins of material. The idea is that we want to create a positive and nurturing environment for people to showcase their talents. You can sing, dance, recite poetry or do all three at once!

Annual Week Off!

Hey we are taking a week off! This is going to be an annual week off from now on. We will be closed Monday June 28th until Sunday July 4th. Re-opening on Monday July 5th @ 7am.

We will also be closed on Saturday July 10th for Music Fest.

There will be lots of fun stuff happening throughout the week including coffee at different bike shops, free regular brew with lunch on Wednesday June 2nd right here at the Freakin’ Coffeeshop and a gathering on Friday at The Broken Spoke in downtown Courtenay.
